Knowledge and attitude on bruxism among International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) students

Bruxism is an oral habit of clenching and grinding teeth. In 2014, the prevalence bruxism among youth has been increased to 51.2% which higher than previous studies. Effects can affect quality life. Hence, this study aimed examine level knowledge attitude IIUM Kuantan students by developing a questionnaire as research tool in study, identifying attitude, determining sociodemographic characteristics that contribute correlation between on bruxism. The domains such type, symptom, risk factor, effect, prevention, treatment was assessed questionnaire. Data from 129 respondents collected through Google form using convenience sampling. As result, development completed literature review, pilot (?=0.844). Both were poor. Significant differences detected Kruskal Wallis test term respondents’ age (p=0.008), faculty (p=0.009), (p=0.024). Similarly (p=0.001), kulliyyah (p<0.001), (p=0.002) significant A fair positive determined Spearman coefficient (r=0.461, p<0.001). conclusion, it recommended for healthcare authorities conducting educational program increase population.
